Exposure to OFDI and regional labour markets: evidence for routine and non-routine jobs in Great Britain

Abstract This article explores the role of subnational geography in analysis consequences Outward Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI) for workers performing different typologies jobs. We qualify jobs according to their knowledge content, degree tradability and response agglomeration economies. While former two dimensions are key signal intensity OFDI exposure jobs, latter contributes explain unequal spatial distribution benefits losses from terms job creation/destruction. theorise areas that more severely exposed experience routine occupations, whereas they do not necessarily benefit creation non-routine To test our hypothesis, we make use a balanced panel dataset at local labour market level, exploiting variations composition areas.
